New Zealand is acknowledged as one of the few countries to have successfully come to grips with this supremely aristocratic grape variety. The silty alluvial soils, low rainfall and long, cool ripening conditions in Marlborough produce world-class Pinot Noir. Our goal is to showcase the vibrant fruit characters for which Marlborough Pinot Noir is internationally renowned while reflecting the individual character of the terroir of our vineyard and the craft of the winemaker.
Winemaking notes
Only the very best quality fruit from our top performing vineyard blocks is selected to make this wine. The yield per hectare is kept low and the vines receive extensive care by hand. This wine is hand plunged in open top fermenters, then matured, predominantly in French oak barriques (one third new) for ten months, adding a distinctive yet integrated oak character.
Description
This beguiling and sensual wine is deep red with vivid purple hints. It beckons with a sensuous aroma of black cherry, raspberry and violets then captivates with hints of dark chocolate and espresso. Ripe cherry and black plum flavours are wrapped in fine fruit tannins and seductively spicy French oak. It has delicacy and grace, charm and appeal, yet tantalises with complexity.
